SRAM Mullet Rival eTap GX Eagle AXS Gravel groupset | 52 teeth
With the SRAM Mullet groupset you can give your gravel bike even more range! The Mullet groupset combines two worlds in line with the application area of gravel bikes: The Rival eTap AXS groupset for dropbar bikes and the GX Eagle AXS MTB groupset. With the wide gear range of the Eagle cassette, you can master the steepest off-road climbs and discover places that were previously inaccessible to dropbar bikes.
Rear derailleur
In contrast to the high-end XX1 AXS rear derailleur, the cage of the GX Eagle AXS rear derailleur is made of steel instead of carbon. This reduces the price and makes the rear derailleur even more robust on the trail. In return, you have to accept an additional weight of almost 100 grams compared to the top version. The tried-and-tested overload clutch provides better protection for the rear derailleur in the event of a fall. It briefly decouples the rear derailleur under extreme loads so that it can avoid the load and the electric motor is protected from damage. However, the rear derailleur immediately jumps back into the engaged gear. As a positive side effect, the rear derailleur suspension and the derailleur hanger are also better protected in the event of a fall. The Roller Bearing Clutch 3.0 vibration damper in combination with the X-Sync 2 tooth profiles of the derailleur pulleys guarantees safe chain movement
Crank
The wide version of the Rival crank has been specially developed for gravel bikes. Its widened DUB crankshaft and a 2.5 millimeter wider chainline offer sufficient tire clearance even for 2.1 inch wide tires. The Wide crank is even suitable for use on MTBs with the corresponding DUB bottom bracket. The 1x version comes with a Direct Mount chainring with 40 or 46 teeth. In addition to saving weight by eliminating the front derailleur, a 1x drivetrain is also less prone to failure and more intuitive to shift compared to a 2x system. The SRAM X-Sync tooth profile with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide), tried and tested in the MTB sector, ensures that the chain sits securely on the chainring. The Rival is visually impressive with its polished, black aluminium crankarms, which are available in lengths from 160 to 175 millimetres. The crankshaft was developed for the new DUB Road bottom bracket standard for a further range of applications. The crankshaft is compatible with all standard bottom bracket housings via the corresponding DUB bottom bracket. With the SRAM Quarq AXS Powermeter Kit available in our store, the crank can be upgraded to a power measurement system.
Shift brake lever including hydraulic disc brake
With the Rival eTap AXS HRD shift-brake system, you can brake comfortably and in a controlled manner from any position and transmit your shift commands wirelessly. In contrast to the Red AXS and Force AXS shifters, the hoods of the Rival have become significantly flatter and narrower. Not only do they look great, they are also compatible with all hand sizes. The textured shift paddles and rubber grips are also new for even more control and comfort. The grip width adjustment on the brake lever ensures the best possible ergonomics, while the integration of the Rival into the AXS platform offers you the option of adapting the shifters to your personal preferences, evaluating your shifting behaviour or updating the firmware via the associated smartphone app. In addition to the freely selectable assignment of the shift buttons, the derailleur can also be operated in semi-automatic mode, in which the rear derailleur and front derailleur synchronize automatically and you only have to choose between a lighter and heavier gear. However, there are no ports for additional shifters (blips), as found on the Red/Force AXS units, on the Rival AXS shifters. The two-piece brake caliper, based on the award-winning HydroHC platform, is beyond reproach in terms of braking performance and heat management.
Paceline brake discs | Center Lock
The new Paceline brake rotors take up the elegant design of the eTap AXS Road groupsets. They have a redesigned braking surface with equally redesigned ventilation holes for even smoother and lower-vibration braking performance. The rounded edges on the top of the rotor minimize the risk of injury and comply with the guidelines of the UCI cycling world federation. A further advantage is that they make it easier to install the wheel, as the rounded top prevents jamming in the brake calliper.
Cassette
Whether pedal-heavy descents or the steepest ramps, the XG-1275 cassette with 10-52 teeth provides you with the right gears for any terrain. The stamped steel sprockets and a 52-tooth aluminum sprocket ensure a high durability of the cassette. The sprockets are not connected via a spider, but are riveted with stainless steel pins. This not only makes the Fullpin cassette lighter than conventional cassettes, the open design also offers excellent self-cleaning in muddy conditions. The teeth optimized with SRAM's X-Glide 2 technology ensure optimum shifting performance when shifting up and down, while an increased bandwidth compared to the Eagle cassettes with 10-50 teeth not only offers more reserves for extremely steep climbs. Powerful riders can ride a larger chainring thanks to the increased gear range of 520% without compromising the bike's climbing capabilities. As a result, the drivetrain enables a higher top speed and the rider also uses the larger sprockets of the cassette more often, which are more efficient.
Chain
The GX Eagle chain was specially developed to meet the requirements of the 12-speed drivetrain and its unique design makes the chain highly resistant to wear. A nickel coating offers a high level of corrosion protection and reduces chain friction. The revised PowerLock chain lock has a longer service life and is even easier to handle.
Charger/battery
The integrated battery on the rear derailleur has a range of over 1000 kilometers. The charge status can be read at any time via an LED lamp and the battery is recharged within an hour using the charger supplied.
