With the SRAM Mullet groupset you can give your gravel bike even more range! The Mullet groupset combines two worlds in line with the application area of gravel bikes: The Force AXS groupset for dropbar bikes and the XX1 Eagle AXS MTB groupset. With the wide gear range of the Eagle cassette, you can master the steepest off-road climbs and discover places that were previously inaccessible to dropbar bikes.
Rear derailleur
The XX1 Eagle AXS rear derailleur is the brain of the drivetrain and has been specially developed for optimum shifting performance with an electric motor. Shifting under load and on rough surfaces is now even more precise. This gives you even more confidence in the bike under extreme loads and you can concentrate solely on the trail. The new overload clutch provides better protection for the rear derailleur in the event of a fall. It briefly decouples the rear derailleur under extreme loads so that it can avoid the load and the electric motor is protected from damage. However, the rear derailleur immediately jumps back into the engaged gear. As an extremely positive side effect, the rear derailleur suspension and the derailleur hanger are also better protected in the event of a fall. In addition, a 10 millimeter shorter derailleur arm protects the rear derailleur from contact with the ground. For more chain wrap and therefore better shifting performance, the parallelogram has been moved slightly further forward.
Powermeter crank
Introduced with the current Rival AXS groupset, the new Force Carbon crank also has a crankshaft-based power meter. Thanks to the complete integration of the measurement technology into the crankshaft, the power meter crank has a particularly clean look. The power of the left leg is measured, from which the total power is calculated using an algorithm. Thanks to the many years of experience of Quarq's power meter specialists, the measurement is very reliable and accurate. The battery life of up to 400 hours should cover operation for a season for many bikers. If you do run out of power, the lithium AAA battery can easily be replaced independently. For use in adverse weather conditions, the power meter unit is waterproof to IPX7 standard. In contrast to other power meters, the additional weight of the power meter unit remains pleasingly low at 40 grams.
A 1x chainring in combination with a 12-speed cassette with a wide range of gear ratios can be the lightest and most efficient drivetrain option for many cycling disciplines. With its lightweight and stiff direct-mount chainring, the Force 1x crank is the perfect starting point for everything from cyclocross bikes to time trial bikes. The SRAM X-Sync tooth profile with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide), proven in the MTB sector, ensures a secure fit of the chain on the chainring. A laser-engraved finish makes the chainring more resistant and increases durability. You can find retrofit chainrings with 38 to 46 teeth and aero versions with 48 or 50 teeth in our store.
The Force carbon crankarms combine low weight and high stiffness. In the WIDE version, the crank has a chainline of 47.5 millimetres and offers extra tire clearance on gravel bikes. With the DUB-Wide crankshaft, the crank is compatible with all standard bottom bracket shells with the matching DUB-Wide bottom bracket.
Shift brake lever / HydroHC Hydraulic-Road-Disc (HRD) brakes
Small changes can make a big difference. Introduced with the Rival AXS groupset, the Force shift brake levers have also been given a flatter and slimmer design. The new design offers even more control, especially for small hands, thanks to a larger hand wrap. In contrast to the Rival shifters, the Force version is equipped with lighter carbon brake levers, while the textured shift paddles and rubber grips provide even more control and comfort. The integration of the Force shifters into the AXS platform offers you the option of adapting the shifters to your personal preferences, evaluating your shifting behaviour or carrying out firmware updates via the associated smartphone app. In addition to the freely selectable assignment of the shift buttons, the shifters can also be operated in semi-automatic mode, in which the rear derailleur and front derailleur synchronize independently and you only have to choose between a lighter and heavier gear. Ports for additional shifters (blips) are no longer available. Instead, the shifters can be coupled with up to 3 pairs of SRAM wireless blip shifters. The two-piece brake caliper based on the award-winning HydroHC platform is beyond reproach in terms of braking performance and heat management.
Paceline brake discs
The new Paceline brake rotors take up the elegant design of the eTap AXS Road groupsets. They have a redesigned braking surface with equally redesigned ventilation holes for even smoother and lower-vibration braking performance.
The rounded edges on the top of the rotor minimize the risk of injury and comply with the guidelines of the UCI cycling world federation. A further advantage is that they make it easier to install the wheel, as the rounded top prevents jamming in the brake calliper.
Cassette
With the proven SRAM X-Dome technology, the XG-1299 Eagle 12-speed cassette is one of the most durable and stiffest cassettes on the market. SRAM achieves this by milling the cassette from a single block. This manufacturing technique also makes it possible to keep the weight extremely low, even with durable steel sprockets. Only the 52 mm final sprocket is made of aluminum. The increased gear range compared to the Eagle cassettes with 10-50 teeth not only offers more reserves for extremely steep climbs. Powerful riders can ride a larger chainring thanks to the increased gear range of 520% without compromising the bike's climbing capabilities. As a result, the drivetrain enables a higher top speed and the rider also uses the larger sprockets of the cassette more often, which are more efficient.
Chain
The PC 1290 Eagle Rainbow Chain plays a major role in the smooth and quiet running of the drivetrain, thanks to the particularly rounded outer plates and the consistent absence of sharp edges.The HollowPin design enables smooth, precise shifting and weight savings without compromising on strength. The pins are reinforced by a chrome coating. A titanium nitride coating offers a high level of corrosion protection and reduces chain friction. The revised PowerLock chain lock has a longer service life and is even easier to use.
Charger/battery
The integrated battery on the rear derailleur has a range of over 1000 kilometers. The charge status can be read at any time via an LED lamp and the battery is recharged within an hour using the charger supplied.
