Description
SRAM Force eTap AXS Wide Road Disc HRD Flat Mount road bike groupset Iridescent 1x12 | Quarq power meter crank | 40 teeth
Visually unobtrusive, with a touch of shine - the new Force group with its iridescent look manages this balancing act. Technically, the group builds on the previous generation, with some upgrades from the RED top group and new technologies. The great versatility and adaptability of the Force group has remained the same. From the 1x XPLR setup for gravel bikes to the thoroughbred racing bike with 2x drive, the Force offers many well thought-out gear ratios. With the proven AXS standard, you can adapt the shifting behavior to your needs and integrate AXS components from other groupsets or additional shifters into your setup.
Power meter crank
Introduced with the current Rival AXS group, the new Force Carbon crank also has a crankshaft-based power meter. Due to the complete integration of the measuring technology in the crankshaft, the power meter crank has a particularly clean look. The power of the left leg is measured, from which the overall power is calculated using an algorithm. Thanks to the many years of experience of the power meter specialists from Quarq, the measurement is carried out with a very high level of reliability and accuracy. The battery life of up to 400 hours should cover a season's operation for many bikers. Should you ever run out of power, the lithium AAA battery can easily be replaced by yourself. For use in adverse weather conditions, the power meter unit is waterproof according to the IPX7 standard. In contrast to other power meters, the additional weight of the power meter unit is pleasantly low at 40 grams.
A 1-speed chainring in combination with a 12-speed cassette with a large selection of gear ratios can be the lightest and most efficient drive variant for many bike disciplines. With its lightweight and stiff direct-mount chainring, the Force 1-speed crank is the right starting point for everything from cyclocross bikes to time trial bikes. The tried and tested MTB SRAM X-Sync tooth profile with alternating thick and thin teeth (narrow-wide) ensures that the chain sits securely on the chainring. A laser engraved finish makes the chainring more resilient and increases durability. You can find retrofit chainrings with 38 to 46 teeth and aero versions with 48 or 50 teeth in our shop.
The Force carbon crank arms combine low weight and high rigidity. In the WIDE version, the crank has a chain line of 47.5 millimeters and offers extra tire clearance on Gravel bikes. With the DUB-Wide crankshaft, the crank is compatible with all common bottom bracket shells with the appropriate DUB-Wide bottom bracket.
Shift-brake lever / HydroHC Hydraulic Road Disc (HRD) brakes
Small changes can make a big difference. Introduced with the Rival AXS group, the Force shift-brake levers also get a flatter and slimmer design. The new design brings even more control, especially for small hands, thanks to a larger hand wrap. In contrast to the Rival shifters, the Force variant is equipped with lighter carbon brake levers. The textured shift paddles and rubber grips provide even more control and comfort. The reach adjustment on the brake lever ensures the best possible ergonomics. The integration of the Force-Shifter into the AXS platform gives you the option of adapting the shifting to your personal preferences, evaluating your shifting behavior or updating the firmware via the associated smartphone app. In addition to the freely selectable assignment of the shift buttons, the shift can also be operated in semi-automatic mode, in which the rear derailleur and front derailleur synchronize themselves and you only have to choose between an easier and heavier gear. Ports for additional switches (blips) are no longer available. The shifters can be coupled with up to 3 pairs of SRAM wireless blip shifters. Based on the award-winning HydroHC platform, the two-piece caliper is beyond any doubt when it comes to braking performance and heat management.
Paceline brake discs
The new Paceline brake discs pick up on the elegant design of the eTap AXS Road groupsets. They have a newly designed braking surface with also newly designed ventilation holes for an even more even and low-vibration braking performance. The rounded edges on the top of the disc minimize the risk of injury and comply with the guidelines of the World Cycling Union UCI. Another advantage is that they make it easier to install the wheel, because the rounded top prevents tilting in the brake caliper.
Rear derailleur | 36T
The Force AXS rear derailleur ensures fast and precise shifting. The integrated Orbit-Fluid vibration damping ensures safe and smooth running of the chain on any terrain. Their speed-dependent damping is only activated in the event of rapid shocks and remains inactive during the movements of the rear derailleur during shifting. The chain guide is supported by pulleys with SRAM X-Sync (Narrow-Wide) tooth profiles.
The electronic radio eTap switching logic ensures intuitive switching processes and a simple, wireless setup. An ANT+ transmitter integrated in the rear derailleur enables communication between your bike computer and the rear derailleur. You can display information about the charge status of the battery and the current gear in your cockpit. With the integration of AXS technology, the switching behavior can be personalized in the associated app. The proven SRAM eTap battery (not included in the scope of delivery) provides the necessary power, with which you can operate the rear derailleur for over 1000 kilometers or around 60 hours of driving. The medium-length rear derailleur cage is compatible with cassettes from 10-28 teeth to 10-36 teeth and can be used on a wide range of 1x and 2x bike setups.
Cassette
Proven in the mountain bike sector for years, the 10 sprocket is now also being used on racing bikes. This is made possible by the SRAM XDR freehub standard. The advantages are obvious: with the same bandwidth, the cassette can be made even lighter. Compared to the previous version, the shift gates have been further optimized and matched to the electronic eTap AXS rear derailleur. The result is even faster and smoother shifting. The sprockets made of tool steel are connected to each other with the SRAM mini-cluster design via pins. The largest sprocket is made of aluminum to further optimize the weight.
Chain
The new SRAM Force chain has been redesigned from the ground up. The unique flat top shape of the lugs made it possible to make the chain narrower and lighter. The resulting larger distance between the outer plates and the sprockets ensures smoother chain movement and even more precise shifting. As a positive side effect, the service life of the chain also increases. This is also ensured by a chrome coating on the inside of the tabs and the rollers.
Charger/Battery
The integrated battery on the rear derailleur has a range of over 1000 kilometers. The charge status can be read at any time via an LED light. With the included charger, the batteries are recharged within an hour.
