This is ensured by the technologies adopted in part by the Dura Ace 9100.
The Ultegra Di2 FD-R8050 front derailleur has been redesigned to bridge larger distances between the chainrings without sacrificing shift quality. In conjunction with the stiff chainrings of the Ultegra FC-R8000 crank, with their perfectly tuned shift aids, gear shifts are completed in no time at all and are also possible without any problems even on a bumpy ride. Typical problems of the circuits, such as an adjustment of the derailleur are no longer existent thanks to the electronics. The auto-trim function saves valuable time since a readjustment of the derailleur, depending on the gear ratio, is automatically performed and makes a chain dragging on the cage impossible.
With the Shimano Syncro Shift and Semi Syncro Shift function, the Ultegra Di2 even allows semi-automatic shifting. With Syncro Shift, the front derailleur shifts automatically as soon as the rear derailleur has been activated to shift into the next matching gear from the combination of chainrings and cassette. Semi-syncro shift works the other way round: When shifting the derailleur, the rear derailleur automatically switches to the next suitable gear.
