Probably the best and most versatile brake from Shimano is also becoming a pioneer in its class in the M8100 version. Due to the wide range of applications and the reliability, it is the first choice for many bikers. Thanks to Servo Wave technology, the brake shines with quick response and a very easy to control pressure point. Bleeding is very easy using one-way bleeding, but is usually only necessary when shortening the brake line. The new arrangement of the clamp gives you some space on the handlebars, for example for remote levers. In addition, the rigidity could be significantly increased. The ergonomically shaped levers are easy to operate with one or two fingers and can be adjusted within reach without tools. The Shimano shift levers with I-Spec EV mount can be attached to the brake levers to save the additional clamp for the levers. The Deore XT caliper is the solution to all braking problems. It grips powerfully, but can be dosed very precisely in combination with the BL-M8100 brake lever. The construction is designed for rapid heat dissipation. This can be further supported by using ICE-Tech brake pads with cooling fins. This means that longer descents in the high mountains are a safe bet. Installation is extremely easy thanks to the post mount and venting with the one-way bleeding system is no rocket science.

As one of the contact points, the shifters are an important link between rider and bike. Compared to the M8000 shifter, the operating forces could be reduced by 35% by changing the transmission ratio in combination with a lower cage tension on the rear derailleur. The proven Rapidfire Plus switching logic with a lever that can be switched on both sides (2-way release) has been adopted from the previous version. However, the M8100 shifter with its revised inner workings shifts faster thanks to instant release. The shift cable is released as soon as the lever is actuated, allowing the pilot to react even more quickly to changing track conditions. With the I-Spec EV version, the lever can be attached to Deore XT M8100 brake levers to save space. In addition, the assembly offers a 14 millimeter wide lateral adjustment range via the new standard and the shifter can also be rotated by 60 degrees.
Brake disc SHIMANO Deore XT Center Lock RT-MT800 | 180mm + 160mm
With the Ice-Tech cooling technology, the RT-MT800 brake disc ensures constant braking performance even on longer descents. The brake disc is characterized by a three-layer sandwich construction. The stainless steel flanks with an aluminum core offer significantly improved heat dissipation. This allows the temperature to be reduced by around 100 °C. In addition, the FREEZA aluminum cooling fins reduce the system temperature by around a further 50 °C thanks to their increased surface area. Due to the higher heat dissipation, smaller brake discs than usual can be installed. In addition, the service life of the brake pad is significantly extended. As is typical for Shimano, the discs are suitable for the center lock mount, which enables quick and easy installation, offers a secure hold and ensures a clean and compact look. A lighter aluminum carrier saves a few grams of weight compared to the previous version.

With the M8100 Deore XT crank, Shimano takes a big step forward in several aspects. What stands out is the assembly of the chainrings via Direct Mount, which can save a lot of weight. When building the crank, Shimano continues to rely on the proven Hollowtech-2 technology with a 24 millimeter crankshaft. By optimizing the design, the rigidity could be increased despite less mass. The matching SM-CRM85 Direct Mount chainrings with their special Dynamic Chain Engagement+ design guide the chain safely and with little vibration, even on rough trails. They are attached with a lock ring, which has the Shimano bottom bracket tool holder.
Rear derailleur SHIMANO Deore XT RD-M8100-SGS Shadow+ long cage
Even the XTR M8000 rear derailleur was known for its clean shifting and smooth chain movement. With the M8100, these properties could be further improved and even faster switching processes could be realized. The rear derailleur was redesigned from the ground up to be prepared for the extreme bandwidths of the cassettes with 10-51 and 10-45 teeth. The jockey wheels were placed in such a way that they keep the chain at the optimum distance from the cassette in all gears. The size of the wheels has also increased to 13 teeth. This not only offers the chain better guidance, but also ensures quieter and more energy-saving operation. This is further supported by the Shadow+ design with vibration dampers.
Cassette SHIMANO Deore XT Cassette CS-M8100 | 12-speed 10-51 teeth
Smooth and precise shifting has always been a hallmark of Shimano cassettes. With the Hyperglide cassettes of the last generation, the sprockets were placed in such a way that the chain runs extremely smoothly and with little vibration, especially when switching to a larger sprocket. With the XTR M8100 cassette, Shimano introduces Hyperglide+. Thanks to this technology, the shifting processes are now just as smooth when shifting into a heavier gear and are 1/3 faster compared to the CS-M8000 cassette. When constructing the cassette, Shimano relies on a material mix of steel and aluminum for the sprockets. While the ten small sprockets with the lowest chain wrap and highest load are made of steel, the two large sprockets are made of aluminum. This load-dependent use of material leads to even wear of the cassette and also extends the service life of the chain. The cassette is held together by an aluminum spider.
Chain SHIMANO Deore XT | Ultegra CN-M8100 12-speed | 138 links with chain lock
The CN-M8100 chain is specially designed for the M8100 chainrings and cassettes. The chain harmonises perfectly with the Dynamic Chain Engagement+ (DCE+) Narrow-Wide tooth profiles of the new XT chainrings thanks to milling on the inside of the link plates. The design results in a tighter fit of the chain on the teeth. Vibrations are avoided and the smoother running of the chain is not only noticeable when pedalling, but is also expressed acoustically through a 4 dB quieter drive. Thanks to a new chromed surface in combination with the proven SIL-TEC coating, the service life of the chain could be kept at the level of the M8000 chain, despite the smaller outer width.
