The Ryde brand has only been in the market for a short time, but it is the direct successor of the Rigida company. Rigida has over 80 years of rim manufacturing experience and was acquired by a group of investors in 2011, including the well-known spokes manufacturer Sapim. New capital and the experience of the two companies Rigida and Sapim form the basis for the new product portfolio.
The Trace M 23 is the lightest rim in the Ryde range and thus predestined for cross country and marathon racing use. Their optimized tubeless-ready rim profile keeps tubeless tires safe in place and eliminates the need for a hook in the rim flange. Instead, at Ryde, the rim flange has been strengthened to give it greater puncture resistance. The asymmetric profile of the rim creates a balanced spoke angle between the left and right side, which makes it possible to build stiffer wheels. To protect the unoccupied spoke holes, the rims must be spoked with the enclosed Sapim washers. These not only provide a better distribution of power to the rim, but also favor a better alignment of the spokes, resulting in a more stable impeller.
