The Spaniards from ROTOR are presenting their first row of hubs with the R-Volver hubs. The pioneers in oval chainrings in cycling also go an innovative and independent way with the interior and appearance of the R-Volver hubs. For example, the freewheel is based on a patented, almost non-contact system that is a mixture of a toothed disc freewheel and pawl freewheel.
When rolling, the specially shaped toothed lock washer is pressed away from the 6 bolts and the freewheel runs with extremely little resistance. This significantly reduces the frictional resistance compared to other systems and the wheel turns longer. At the slightest pedal movement, the bolts shoot into the tooth lock washer and ensure a direct frictional connection. The system is interlocked over 25 teeth and thus engages every 14.4 degrees with one pedal turn. The system saves weight compared to other freewheel systems because there is no need for a fixed connection between the toothed lock washer and the hub body.
The hub bodies are 100% CNC machined. Reduced contact bearing seals not only ensure a long service life, they also reduce the frictional resistance of the hubs when rolling. The milled hub flanges for J-Bend spokes lower the weight and give the R-Volver hubs their special look.
