ROTOR Crank Set Kapic MTB 1-speed Q-Ring | oval
With the Rotor Kapic crank, the Spanish component manufacturer is expanding its portfolio with an extremely lightweight aluminum crank for cross country and marathon racers. The crank owes its name to 6 victories by rotor athletes at the legendary Cape Epic (CAPe ePIC = Kapic) stage race in South Africa. Introduced in 2017 for the R-Hawk and R-Raptor cranks , the Kapic takes over the modular crank system of their siblings from the Gravity range. Thus, the crank arms with different crankshafts, chainrings and bumpers can be freely combined. Thus, you can adjust the crank both technically and visually to your bike.
The crank arms are drilled to the axle in 3 channels using the Trinity Drilling System. The removed material has little effect on the stiffness of the crank. The necessary stiffness and stability is achieved by lightweight construction and large outside diameter. To protect the crank arms against abrasion and stone chips, the crank arms have rubberized bumpers. These are available in 7 different colors and make the crank so an eye-catcher on your bike. Compatible is the crank system with the round rotor NoQX1 or the oval QX1-Rings Direct-Mount chainrings. For a coherent overall picture, Rotor has optically adjusted the chainrings to the martial design of the Kapic. To change the modular system as quickly as possible, only an 8 mm Allen key is required to change the sprocket and crankshaft.
With 2 different crankshaft lengths (standard and BOOST) with a diameter of 30 millimeters, the crank system is suitable for all standard frame and bottom bracket standards.
Direct Mount Chainring | oval
The right Direct Mount Q-Ring for the Rotor Kapic, R-Hawk and R-Raptor cranks . For a coherent overall picture, Rotor has optically adapted the chainrings to the martial design of the cranks . The sophisticated ovalization of the Q-ring enhances performance through powertrain variation and drag optimization. When pedaling, the natural strengths and weaknesses are reconciled. Thus, a better use of the stronger muscle groups is achieved and in the weaker muscles a balance in the working path (lower stroke) created. Due to the fine grid of the direct mount mount in conjunction with different positions of the crankshaft, the Q-Rings' OCP (optimum chainring position) can be adjusted to 1 degree.
The chainrings also have specially shaped teeth that prevent the chain from jumping off. In conjunction with a Sram Type2 or Shimano Shadow + rear derailleur, which have a greatly increased bias of the cage, the chain is reliably held in position even without chain guide.
