Revised in 2018, the Niner RIP takes its place as King of the Mountain right from the start. As a product of an (R) evolution, it expands your view of what a long-distance trail bike should and can, above all, do.
It's just the bike for backcountry adventures in wide terrain. The 150mm travel of the perfectly balanced rear suspension provides traction, control and fun on a level that used to be found on heavy enduro bikes.
In order to optimize the geometry of the frame, the guys from Niner have built many prototypes, tested to offer the best solution in the end. The cockpit has a comfortable reach which is designed for the use of short stems. The steep seat angle lets you sit centrally in your bike and, together with the 439 mm short chainstays, gives a lively handling.
The in-house CVA suspension technology allows a very efficient suspension, which works actively and gently in any situation over a travel of 150 mm.
Every detail has asked Niner if they can do even better. Integrated cable routing for lowering and lowering the seat post, ISCG 05 mount is as eye-catching as the frame protector and skid plate made of titanium sheet under the bottom bracket.
Recommended are 1-fold cranksets such. SRAM Eagle or Shimano XT 1x11, but of course the RIP 9 frame is also compatible with Shimano's electronic Di2 circuit, even thought of a battery compartment in the frame.
Niner accepts changes if they serve the purpose of improving their wheels. After 29 "+ and BOOST have found their way into the program, now comes as a further innovation that you can use 27.5" + in the frame. In conjunction with 29 "wheels, a fork up to 160 mm travel is recommended; at 27.5" + it is even 170 mm. So you always have enough reserves, no matter how difficult the trail becomes.
The RIP frame is designed for the use of the current 1-fold drives. The bottom bracket is based on 73 mm BSA, which considerably simplifies maintenance. The ISCG-05 mount allows the installation of common chain guides and to really convince any potential buyer is the frame Di2-Ready incl. Integrated battery compartment.
To make everything as stable as possible, the RIP 9 frame is manufactured in the specially developed Carbon Compaction System. This guarantees a minimum amount of resin, no air pockets and a clean finish. This makes the frame extremely light and yet very durable is self-evident.
