Whether on the test bench or the legendary pavés of the Flemish spring classics, the new Newmen high-profile wheels perform at the highest level on any terrain. The development of the wheels began in 2020 with the aim of creating a line of wheels that combines aerodynamics, low weight, stability and comfort. The engineers' attention to detail is particularly evident in the patented, internal aero valves. Even during the test phase, the World Tour Team Intermarché Wanty Gobert was able to win several races, including the Giro d'Italia. After numerous CFD simulations, wind tunnel tests and world tour races at the highest level, the wheels are now ready for the market.
In contrast to the Streem series, the SL R.42 wheels are designed for large-volume 30-32 mm wide tires. In combination with these, the highest level of comfort is achieved in order not to lose contact and grip on cobblestone passages and, above all, to protect the body.
R.42 carbon rim
The Newmen carbon rims are made exclusively from the highest quality UD carbon fibers. Its shape achieves excellent values in all wind conditions and the profile is neutral even in cross winds. With an inner width of 21 mm, the rims have been optimized for bulky tires with a width of 30 to 32 mm. Its hook profile offers a secure hold for tubeless tires as well as classic wire tires with tube .
fade hub
With their extremely slim hub body, the light Newmen Fade hubs reduce air turbulence and ensure even less air resistance in the wheel. The 36-tooth pawl freewheel transfers acceleration to the rear wheel without delay. The reduced noise technology ensures a pleasant freewheeling sound.
Pillar wing spokes
The impeller is built with high-quality Pillar Wing Aero spokes. Only 24 spokes reduce rotational drag and save weight.
Aero valve
The world's first internal (tubeless) valve ensures even better aerodynamics and a clean look. For pumping and deflating, the valve extension provided is simply screwed on by hand. Thanks to the supplied adapter, the hybrid system can also be used with a conventional valve.
