With the Streem G.62 wheels, Newmen is launching a new era in gravel racing. Their combination of 62 millimeter rim height, 45 millimeter outer width and 27 millimeter inner width hits the sweet spot for getting the best possible performance out of modern gravel tires with 45 to 50 millimeter widths. With a weight of just 1,510 grams per set, the Streem G.62 CS is one of the lightest wheels in its category. During development, emphasis was placed not only on speed but also on robustness. The hooked rim offers maximum safety at high tire pressures and eliminates the risk of the tire coming off. In addition, the extra-wide rim flange increases resistance to impacts and damage. With Lukas Pöstlberger's victory in the prestigious Traka 200, the Streem G.62 wheels have already achieved their first major success.
Outstanding aerodynamic properties
A decisive factor for the exceptional performance of the Streem G.62 wheels is their aerodynamically optimized design. Modern gravel races are getting faster and faster, reaching average speeds of up to 40 km/h. This is why the rims were developed in extensive wind tunnel tests and optimized for 45 to 50 millimetre wide tires. The perfectly matched combination of rim height, outer width and tire profile significantly reduces air resistance and enables aero values that come close to the best aero road bike wheels, even with 50 millimeter wide tires. The large outer width of 45 millimetres ensures that modern gravel tires are aerodynamically optimally integrated into the rim contour. The airflow can be directed cleanly over the tire and rim, which significantly increases efficiency at high speeds. At the same time, the balanced inner width prevents the tires from becoming excessively wide and losing their aerodynamic advantages.
Balanced driving characteristics
Despite the distinctive rim height, the Streem G.62 wheels impress with their exceptionally good-natured handling. Their specially developed rim shape and high width ensure remarkable crosswind stability, which can even outperform lower rim profiles. The 27 millimeter wide inner rim width enables riding with low tire pressures and ensures optimum grip, high riding comfort and excellent rolling characteristics. At the same time, the inner width offers sufficient lateral support so that the tires can be guided precisely without restricting the flexibility of the carcasses. This ensures a controlled and comfortable ride at all times, even on demanding surfaces.
VONOA Aerowide carbon spokes
The special carbon spokes reduce the weight by 40% compared to comparable steel spokes. Due to the extremely high tensile strength, the wheels only require 21 spokes without sacrificing stiffness and durability. The reduced number of spokes in combination with the pronounced aero profile of the spokes also ensures a significant reduction in air turbulence in the rotating wheel.
Newmen Fade R CS hubs
The in-house Fade R CS hubs rotate in the center and are equipped with high-quality, double-sealed industrial bearings for durability under all conditions. Thanks to their internal reinforcement, any forces that occur can be better compensated and the wheels are therefore approved for use on e-gravel bikes (up to 60 Nm torque). The 36-toothed pawl freewheel ensures instantaneous acceleration. The Reduced Noise technology provides a pleasant freewheel sound. The slim design of the Fade R CS hubs catches the eye from the outside, further reducing air resistance.Compared to the Fade R version, the hub flanges have been modified to accommodate the VONOA carbon spokes.Furthermore, Newmen uses a special grease which has a 25 % higher water absorption capacity and a very high bleeding temperature to protect the bearings from premature wear and corrosion.
Streem valve
The world's first internal (tubeless) valve ensures even better aerodynamics and a clean look. To inflate and deflate, simply screw on the supplied valve extension by hand. Thanks to the adapters supplied, the hybrid system can also be used with a conventional valve.
Robust construction
The extra-wide rim flanges and the robust design of the rims allow you to ride with low air pressures on rough surfaces without hesitation. With an impact resistance of over 12.36 joules, the rims even meet the requirements for cross-country mountain bike use and are approved for system weights of up to 130 kilograms.
