METI titanium axles for Shimano XTR pedals PD-M9100 SPD Race | short -3 mm
The Shimano XTR pedals have always been known in the racing scene for their very good durability and function. Compared to its predecessor, the footprint of the 9100 pedal has been increased by a wider, flattened pedal body. Therefore, the M9100 pedals offer improved power transmission and more control in technically demanding passages. The shape of the pedals has been optimized for adverse weather conditions. Thanks to the better self-cleaning achieved, clicking in and out does not cause any problems even on muddy track conditions.
However, the perfect function was always offset by a few grams too much. Thanks to the Meti titanium axles, this is now an end. The optimized axle are manufactured by Meti in Italy from high-strength grade 5 titanium on modern CNC machines.
While the outer bearing by two maintenance-free ceramic hybrid deep groove ball bearings, the original plain bearing is still used on the inside. In addition to the weight saved, this construction also results in a silky smooth run. axle n are approved for a rider weight including clothing, backpack, etc. up to 120kg.
The result of the diet is quite impressive. The pedals have lost a little more than 50g in weight and now only weigh 257g per pair. And that without having to sacrifice even a touch of their perfect ones for it. This is what sensible tuning should look like.
If you already have a pair of XTR PD-M9100 pedals, you have the option of buying a pair of axle including ceramic hybrid bearings and a suitable spacer here. The installation is quite easy for the ambitious hobby mechanic.
