The Shimano XTR pedals have always been known for their very good durability and function in the racing scene. Compared to its predecessor, the contact area of the 9100 pedal has been increased by a wider, flattened pedal body. Therefore, they offer improved power transmission and more control in technically demanding passages. The shape has been optimized for adverse weather conditions. Thanks to the improved self-cleaning achieved with this, clicking in and out does not cause any problems, even on muddy track conditions.
However, the perfect function always stood in the way of a few grams of overweight. Thanks to the Meti titanium axles, that's a thing of the past. They are manufactured at Meti in Italy from high-strength grade 5 titanium on modern CNC machines and are of the same quality.
In contrast to the previous model, the Rapido axle have been completely revised. Special emphasis was placed on durability and user-friendliness.
Even the optics are convincing. The cleanly milled titanium looks very high quality and creates a lot of trust in the function. The play-free ceramic hybrid bearings run very smoothly, practically without resistance and can be replaced if necessary without major problems. The width of the internal bushing has been increased. This enables better power transmission, which of course has a positive effect on longevity. In addition, the system appears stiffer and thus avoids unnecessary energy losses.
At the same time, the new design prevents the bearing seal from coming loose from the housing. As a result, water and dirt never have a chance to get inside the pedal.
Rapido is Italian and means fast. Therefore, the clever minds at Meti have also thought about the installation and greatly simplified it. If you are already the proud owner of Shimano XTR PD-M9100 pedals, the assembly is done in a short time. You unscrew the original axle and carefully insert the new one. There is no need to use "old" parts. If you compare the weight before and after, your eyes will start to shine. The tuning diet has made about 40 g disappear, which is really impressive for this relatively small component.
