Troy Brosnan wanted to create a unicorn out of tires. A tire that rolls incredibly fast, mills its way through corners precisely and, if necessary, decelerates well. As a starting point, the profile of Rekon, Minion DHF and HighRoller II was used and designed by MAXXIS in close cooperation with Troy during the 2018 World Cup season. As a downhill version, the DISSECTOR is ideally suited as a rear tire, whether for racing or in the bike park.
The trail version also makes sense on the front wheel if you want a front tire that rolls easily and has good grip.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass construction optimizes the tread layout and the tire shape on today's modern wider rims. Traditional tires are developed for narrow rims and are too angular in shape on wide rims and therefore not exactly optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube tubeless tires have many advantages: You can drive with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the risk of a breakdown also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for assembly with sealing milk than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer just like a real UST tube tire. As a result, the tube free assembly is successful on all rims with standard dimensions when you first inflate them and with little liquid. "Normal" MAXXIS MTB tires, like tires from other manufacturers, can also be fitted with tubeless sealant because the carcass fabric is very dense. Only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS. The tubeless assembly of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strictly advise against the use of ammonia-containing sealing milk. Ammonia has been proven to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after just a few months.
EXO + Protection
Maxxi's new EXO + construction combines two of the best puncture protection materials: SilkShield and EXO. The SilkShield layer surrounds the entire tire from bead to bead, the EXO layer is mounted on the sidewalls. Together, the EXO + has the following advantages: 27% better puncture protection on the tread, 51% more stable sidewall, 28% more puncture protection compared to the proven, stable EXO carcass. Tires with EXO + Protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro races and are ideally suited for the higher torque and weight that occur with E-MTBs.
The right 3C mixture for enduro and freeride tires. Ease of movement uphill and excellent grip downhill characterize this mixture as well as a long service life.
