The 20FIVE rims in particular contribute to the resilience. Made of high-quality 6061 T6 aluminum, they can accommodate tires with a width of up to 40 mm with their large inner width of 19 mm. This brings additional grip and comfort. The 25 mm high flank generates sufficient aerodynamics without offering too much surface area for the crosswind to attack. The welded ends ensure a perfect look and increased stability. The reinforced rim flange also withstands stronger punctures without damage. And of course the 20FIVE can be converted for tubeless use. A set of rim tape and valve is already included in the scope of delivery.
The Pro 5 hubs from the English cult manufacturer from Barnoldswick rotate in the center. The experience of 30 years of designing and manufacturing high-quality drive elements flowed into their development with the aim of improving proven technology in order to meet the demands of current and future bicycle technology.
The design of the rear wheel hub differs significantly from the previous model. Their enlarged body generates more rigidity without increasing the weight. This is particularly noticeable in a much more direct driving behavior. At the same time, the diameter of the spoke flange increased. This simplifies the construction of very stable wheels.
The highlight of the rear wheel hub is the new 6-pawl freewheel system in offset design. This is characterized by the fact that three of the six pawls are always engaged when driving in order to distribute the load evenly. In addition, the freewheel toothing has been increased from 44 (Pro 4) to 54 teeth, resulting in a total of 108 locking points and a low idle travel of just 3.33°. In addition, some material has been removed from the springs of the pawls, which slightly reduces the spring force and reduces their resistance. With the Pro 5, Hope creates the right balance between smooth running and durability.
Typical for Hope is the perfect workmanship. The hub can withstand negative external influences for a long time, which is also thanks to the high-quality anodizing and the very well sealed stainless steel industrial bearings. Should the ravages of time gnaw at it at some point, it can be disassembled and serviced without much effort. In addition, conversion to a different hub standard is possible without any problems.
The connection between rim and hub is made by Sapim Race spokes. These classic round spokes have a butted middle section and provide more damping than straight spokes throughout. In addition, high peak loads can be better digested. The Race spokes enable very stiff and stable wheels for practically every intended use .
