The rapid development of e-bikes has radically changed the cycling landscape. Not only are committed mountain bikers exploring new terrain and overcoming bigger hurdles with more momentum, but the possibilities of the entire e-bike spectrum have improved massively. At the same time, this requires completely new performance features, safety requirements and expectations of the bikes, from urban commuters to tourers and e-SUVs. People are riding farther, faster and carrying more gear over a wide range of terrain than ever before, and they need a quality chassis to meet these new demands.
The new AWL fork is based on the proven FOX 34 chassis and uses extensive experience from the development of the most powerful off-road suspension systems in the world. With lightweight yet stiff 34mm upper tubes and a precision-cast magnesium chassis, the AWL provides precise rigidity while riding, ensuring long-lasting performance no matter the weather or how much dirt you're plowing through. The proven EVOL air spring and the proven rail damper are performance and adjustability in the first place. Externally adjustable rebound and compression damping is tool-less and easily accessible, while the sealed rail damper system offers exceptional ride qualities.
The robust chassis of the AWL is available in both 27.5" and 29" wheel sizes and has been rigorously tested for a total weight of 169 kg. Fender, rack and light mounts are integrated into the fork for optimal compatibility, durability and versatility. Potholes, bumps, even roots and rocks can no longer harm your firmly bolted mudguards. Designed for everyday tasks as well as for adventures off the streets and paths, the AWL can unleash the full potential of your e-bike, open up new landscapes and bring adventure into everyday life.
FLOAT AIR SPRING RAIL DAMPER
The FLOAT air spring system reduces the breakaway torque and thus offers a highly sensitive fork and full comfort even with small bumps. And that for every type of driver and at different air pressures. Similar to the FLOAT struts, the FLOAT spring system is characterized by a positive and a negative air chamber, which automatically balance each other out while riding. Each rider enjoys the benefits of the correct, precisely balanced air pressure in both air chambers. The progression of the spring characteristic can be adjusted with air volume spacers - which enables every driver to precisely adjust the characteristics of the air spring.
RAIL DAMPER
The Rail damping technology is a simplified version of the well-known Grip cartridge. It offers an unmatched ride feel combined with an easy-to-use on-the-fly adjustment that goes from wide open to fully locked. And all with little maintenance.
AIR SPRING SPACERS
The FLOAT air spring of the FOX forks can be fine-tuned by using air spring spacers to make the response more sensitive or firmer. The volume of the air chamber is adapted to the respective requirements.
LOWER LEG CHANNELS
When a fork compresses, the air in the lower areas of the fork tubes is simultaneously compressed. The more the fork deflects, the more the pressure increases. This effect has the consequence that the fork responds harder and may not be able to use the full travel.
The overflow ducts help solve this problem by directing the compressed air from the lower part of the fork tubes upwards, reducing the unintentional pressure increase. Another advantage of these channels is that the lubricating oil in the lower area of the slider tubes circulates upwards during the spring process and continuously lubricates the foam rings and the sliding bushings.
