FOX Live Valve System for Scott Spark / Spark RC | MY 2018/2019
With the introduction of Live Valve, the most advanced electronically controlled suspension system for mountain bikes, FOX brings one of the most innovative innovations to the Fully Market. With ultra-responsive sensors and the fastest valve developed by FOX, the Live Valve fork and the Live Valve damper are automatically adjusted to the prevailing conditions on the trail. FOX Live Valve is designed so that riders on the trail do not have to worry anymore. Switch on and enjoy the ride. An accidentally activated Lock Out on downhill slopes is a thing of the past with the Live Valve System.
The Fox Live Valve System consists of several components: three sensors, a battery, a controller and the two Live Valve valves. While in motion, the sensors perform 1000 measurements per second to check the damping values and to make chassis adjustments. As soon as the spring elements are in action, the valves open within 3 milliseconds (100 times faster than the blink of an eye) and react so sensitively that you hardly notice it.
The sensors detect jumps and flight phases and reliably open the damping, in addition, the controller detects whether you are in flat terrain, driving uphill or downhill. The controller constantly compares the terrain data to constantly adjust the suspension for maximum efficiency and control.
Based on the information from the sensors, the controller controls the valves. The moment a collision hits the suspension fork, they automatically open the damping of the fork and damper. Depending on the selected mode (there are five available), the damping system remains active for different amounts of time. If another impact occurs with open damping, the system continues to operate. If no more impact occurs, the damping stiffened automatically.
However, many consecutive impacts, such as a descent, leave the system open all the time.
The specially designed lithium ion battery integrates the user interface of the controller. The setting selection key allows you to select five different damping modes. These are preconfigured depending on the wheel model of FOX.
Depending on the settings of the Live Valve and the terrain, the operating time may vary. The average battery life is between 16 and 20 hours. For most drivers, this is a few weeks. In the event of a battery or system failure, the system switches to open mode, so that the suspension is not damaged and the trail fun does not come to an abrupt end.
Depending on the power source, the charging time is between 1.5 and 2 hours. If you forget to recharge your battery before driving, it only takes 15 minutes for you to have enough energy for a two-hour drive. The battery can be charged separately or from the bike (microUSB).
