DT SWISS rear wheel PRC 1400 Spline Carbon Clincher 35 mm
The Swiss from DT Swiss are known for their first-class hubs and impeller components. In order to achieve the highest level of aerodynamics as well, the engineers of Swiss-Side's ERC 1100 wheel set were brought into the boat. With more than 50 years of experience in Formula 1, SwissSide has been manufacturing aerodynamically extremely mature wheels with state-of-the-art production techniques for several years. In addition to these qualities, it was also the geographical proximity to DT-Swiss, which allowed to develop a wheel set of the top class.
In terms of air resistance, the ERC 1100 impressed with its 47 millimeter high rim in the wind tunnel and delivered extremely low air drags at eye level with the most aerodynamic impeller on the market with the same profile height. But not only aerodynamics was the focus of the development. With the main focus on long tours or long races, the wheels should be easily controllable and comfortable under all conditions. AERO + calls DT Swiss this concept, with which the perfect symbiosis of air resistance, handling and efficiency should be found.
The highest air resistance in the driver and wheel system is provided by 75% of the drivers themselves. It is therefore crucial that the driver has confidence and control over his bike under all conditions in order to be able to drive in an aerodynamically efficient position. From this point of view, the ERC 1100 was also able to achieve the best results in the wind tunnel. In all wind conditions, only very small forces act on the steering and thus the driver must hardly counteract with strong side winds.
In terms of efficiency, the Swiss grouped the points of comfort grip and the rolling resistance. All 3 points could be brought to a very high level by a parameter of the rims: the large rim inner width of 19 millimeters. Thanks to these tires, 25 and 28 millimeters wide tires are not only aerodynamically more favorable on the rim, they also have less roll resistance due to their wide rim width than on a narrower rim. A better shaping of the tire and more stability with lower air raises also increase the comfort and the curve grip. For use with tubeless tires, the rims are tubeless-ready and are supplied with accessories for retrofitting.
The hubs are based on the proven DT Swiss 240S hubs. These impress with their excellent seal and the distinctive sound of the toothed disc freewheel. Their DICUT flange geometry ensures balanced wheels with high stiffness. The ERC 1100 is equipped with 24 straightpull blade spokes. To ensure that the state-of-the-art wheel set can be equipped with even the most modern braking technology, Hub Centerlock hub discs have brake discs for road disc brakes.
