DT SWISS rear wheel ARC 1100 DICUT Carbon Clincher 80 mm
The Swiss from DT Swiss are known for their premium hubs and wheel components. In order to reach the highest level in the field of aerodynamics, the compatriots of Swiss-Side got involved in the development of the ARC 1100 wheelset. With more than 50 years of experience in Formula 1, Swiss Side has also been producing aerodynamically advanced wheels with state-of-the-art production techniques for several years. In addition to these qualities, it was also the geographical proximity to DT-Swiss, which together allowed to develop a top-of-the-range wheelset.
In terms of air resistance, the ARC 1100 with its 80 mm high rim in the wind tunnel was convincing and delivered extremely low air resistance at eye level with the most aerodynamic impeller on the market with the same profile height. But not only the aerodynamics was in the foreground during development. With the emphasis on long tours and long races, the wheels should be easy to control and comfortable under all conditions. The highest air resistance in the system consists of driver and wheel, with 75% of the drivers themselves. Thus, it is crucial that the driver has confidence and control over his bike in all conditions to be able to drive in an aerodynamically efficient position. From this point of view, the ARC 1100 achieved best results in the wind tunnel. Under all wind conditions, only very small forces act on the steering and thus the driver hardly has to countersteer in strong crosswinds.
The Swiss combine the points of comfort grip and rolling resistance with efficiency. All three points could be brought to a very high level by a parameter of the rims: The large rim inside of 19 millimeters. Because of these, tires that are 25 and 28 millimeters wide are not only more aerodynamically more favorable on the rim, they also have less rolling resistance due to the large rim width than on a narrower rim. A better shape of the tire and more stability at lower air back increase the comfort and the curve grip. For use with tubeless tires, the rims are tubeless-ready and come with accessories for conversion.
The hubs are based on the proven DT Swiss 240S hubs. These convince by their excellent seal and the distinctive sound of the toothed disc freewheel. Their DICUT flange geometry ensures balanced wheels with high rigidity. The ARC 1100 wheel with 20 straightpull knife spokes is tapped.
